Making A Song And Dance For Afghan Heroes
Following the success of the charity CD single “He Drinks Tequila(And She Talks Dirty In Spanish), Charlie’s Angel Line Dance Addicts are holding a Dance and Music Extravaganza from 7.30pm on Monday 14th December at Los Arcos Restaurante, Los Arcos in Torrevieja. Tickets are 5 Euros, and ALL the money will be going to Afghan Heroes Charity. This evening of song and dance is the climax of a frantic fundraising 3 months.
The group have already raised over 1000 Euros for the charity by selling the CD “He Drinks Tequila (And She Talks Dirty In Spanish), which is sung by Country and Western singer Charles Cole and his partner in crime Line Dance Instructor, Angie Evans. HRH Prince Harry has his own copy, and has sent good luck wishes to the group. This latest event will have 3 artists, Maria O’Hara, Tony Lincoln and Charles Cole, plus a DJ. All artists have given their services for free through Elite Entertainment. Los Arcos Restaurante have kindly donated the hall free of charge. “We are having a fantastic raffle too”, Says Jackie Lawson who organised the event with Charles Cole. “Local businesses have been so generous, and we can’t thank them enough. Afghan Heroes Charity are over the moon about the work we are doing here, and it means a lot to the troops to know that we support them” Tickets have sold quickly, as the night promises to be packed with music ranging from the 1950s, 60s, show tunes, country, diva classics and modern. So, there is something for all tastes, and a good excuse to dress to impress. Having recently spoken to Denise Harris, (Afghan Heroes spokeswoman and mother of one of the 8 lads that died in July this year) Charlie’s Angels realised how vitally important it is to raise money for troops who have nothing.
“There are lads in theatre are sleeping under trucks and can’t wash if they haven’t been sent baby wipes. They are missing the essentials of life that make us all feel human. With the British Government sending another 500 troops to Afghanistan it is essential that Brits everywhere in the world show their support for what could easily be our own sons and daughters.” Los Arcos will be the first venue to display the unique framed RAF MQ-9 Reaper Certificate and CD, that flew on a mission over the Afghanistan skies. Bids will be taken on the day, or by using the contact details below. People in the UK will have the chance to see this rarity during January when Charlie’s Angels are meeting with Afghan Heroes to present the cheque for all the money raised in Spain. The gala evening promises to be crammed with fun, and a good chance of coming home with arms full of Christmas goodies thrown in. There is even a trip to Benidorm Palace up for grabs. A perfect way to get into the Christmas party mood and do good at the same time.
